Description

The World Language Department of Andover Public Schools has a goal of improving students’ reading skills in the target language. Research shows that reading in a world language increases language and literacy acquisition. Additionally, when students are able to choose books that align with their interests, they are more motivated to read. “Oui” Read in French will help create a Free Voluntary Reading (FVR) Library in the French classroom at ACHS. Students in French 1-4 will be able to choose from more than forty titles on a variety of topics at different levels of ability to help them reach their weekly reading goals. Students in French 1-4, along with their teacher, will participate in FVR for 10 minutes a day three days a week, track progress, and write book recommendations to be displayed in the classroom.
