Description

The Saturday Academy is a tuition-free enrichment program offered to students in grades 6-12. An interest in a study of the United States is the only prerequisite. The program takes place over five Saturday mornings. The program allows five teachers to design courses that explore issues and topics in American History that often cannot be addressed within the state-mandated curriculum. The program is designed to have students both fall in love with our nation's history but also to explore that history through the use of primary documents so students may formulate their own individual interpretations of events. The Saturday format also is conducive to a more in-depth exploration of events in a relaxed environment in which students do not feel the pressure to perform on assessments.
