Description:

We in the school counseling department are a bridge for students and families from all walks of life. As counselors, we operate under 3 domains: career, academic, and personal-social. The challenge that we can never account for is who went hungry last night, or who doesn't have a content belly at the moment. Research from many psychologists, including Abraham Maslow, indicates that the hierarchy of needs must be met before students can thrive. The base of those needs is physiological, i.e, food, water, shelter, sleep, etc. We in the counseling department are often thrust into helping students meet their psychological needs daily. To do this effectively, some support is needed.
