Description

As a collaboration with older children in the school, we would like to plan, construct and plant three 4 ft x 8 ft garden beds on the playground at Sunflower Elementary School. We will involve multiple grade levels in the planning and construction, but kindergarten classrooms will take on the responsibility of caring for the garden. One of the state standards for kindergarten through 2nd grade is: K-LS1-1. Use observations to describe patterns of what plants and animals (including humans) need to survive. We will observe and be directly involved in the life cycle of the plants.
