Description

Middle School students will explore art in the community in a variety of settings including the Wichita Art Museum and Mark Arts. Learning isn’t always contained within four walls. Immersive experiences, such as field trips, are essential to addressing the needs of today’s whole child. This grant will provide young learners with real-world, firsthand experiences in the world of contemporary art while developing new media literacy skills critical analysis, critical thinking, and creativity.  New media literacy includes practices such as blogging, social media posting, instant messaging, podcasts, updating websites, and Photoshop. New media literacy platforms include Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Learning to use these technologies responsibly is essential in today’s society.
