Description

This grant targets students who are in the developing stages of bridging decoding and comprehension. Often times, student interest and readability are too far apart for struggling readers to have a fair shot at further researching concepts of interest and a text to speech resource is the key. The ReaderPen is a technological tool that closes that gap while continued learning is made possible. Components to enhance learning include: Text Reader to pronounce words or sentences for auditory learners, Dictionary to explain the meaning and build vocabulary, Scan to File allows students to highlight pieces of text then download to a file for manipulating and reporting research and Voice Recording for note-taking assistance and comprehension. This grant will provide ReaderPens to Sunflower, Meadowlark and Prairie Creek.
